Style and approach
The majority of my wedding photographs are taken unobtrusively, with a ‘hands-off’ approach because I have found people to be more at ease in front of the camera if the camera isn’t right in front of them.
I am a fan of documentary style wedding photography because I like to tell the story from beginning to end but I’m a die hard romantic too so I don’t go for the warts and all approach – I think weddings are beautiful and should look that way. I want my clients to have natural, relaxed photos but I also want them to look fabulous so, in addition to candid pictures, I also direct shots when appropriate to get the most out of the light, the scenery or the moment. This combination of natural & set up shots is very much part of my style and is illustrated below in two shots from the same wedding:

I take group family shots if requested but like to keep them to a minimum – my personal bug bear are wedding photographers that have guests standing around for hours!
I like to get to know my clients and organise at least one consultation meeting before the wedding, during which we look at the running order of the day in detail and discuss likes and dislikes. This gives us both an idea of what to expect on the day and gets us better acquainted. For me, the key to successful wedding photography is insight – if I get to know you and what is important to you then I can take pictures that you will love.
I shoot weddings in partnership with my husband Matt so you get two photographers for the price of one. We do this to achieve comprehensive coverage with the least amount of fuss. Having two different perspectives has also become a signature part of our style and produces some great photographic moments such as the one illustrated below in these two photos taken seconds apart:
